BuzzFeed has appointed Greg Coleman as president, replacing Jon Steinberg, who left the company earlier this year to head up MailOnline’s North American business.

Coleman was previously CEO of Criteo for the past three years, a digital ad shop that specializes in retargeting to serve ads to consumers based on sites that they have visited. Coleman has also held posts at Yahoo and The Huffington Post, where he worked with Jonah Peretti, BuzzFeed’s founder and CEO.

In his new role, Coleman will oversee BuzzFeed’s advertising, marketing, business development and creative services and is specifically tasked with overseeing the brand’s global expansion. He will begin next week and report directly to Peretti.

Andy Wiedlin will also continue his role as chief revenue officer, per a statement from Buzzfeed.

BuzzFeed’s been pitching marketers to invest in branded Web, mobile and social content for several years now, and most recently made a big push into video

"Social, content-driven advertising has really come of age in the last three years, and Greg joining us validates that enormous shift," Peretti said in a statement.
